Abstract
Abstract
Peanut worms (Antillesoma antillarum) are unsegmented marine worms belonging to the invertebrate phylum Sipuncula. Overfishing of peanut worms can disrupt the reproduction of peanut worms in nature. This study aims to determine the biological aspects of peanut worm reproduction including; sex ratio, Gonad Maturity Level (TKG), Gonad Maturity Index (IKG), fecundity, and size of first gonad maturity. This study was conducted for 3 months from May-July 2024. The research location is located at Toronipa Beach, Soropia District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test, simple regression, and non-linear plotting of 50% gonad maturity (Lmaturity). The results showed that the sex ratio of peanut worms at Toronipa Beach was unbalanced. Peanut worms spawn throughout the year and occur in May as the spawning season marked by a high percentage of TKG IV and IKG values. The highest fecundity of bean worms was 5663 grains at a size of 8.5 cm and the lowest was 502 grains at a size of 7.2 cm. The first mature size of male and female bean worm gonads was 6.8-7.2 cm and 7-7.4 cm.
